Jacob Holland (Karl Urban)

The character: Jacob Holland is the one of the most famous sea monster hunters around. Legend has it that he killed at least four sea beasts in two days! He joined Captain Crow’s crew as a young, orphaned boy and possessed an inner fire that caught the captain’s eyes. He’s got the makings to command the crew of the Inevitable himself, but… is that where his heart truly lies?
The actor: New Zealander Karl Urban has long had the heart of an adventurer, just like his on-screen counterpart. He was featured in Xena: Warrior Princess and The Lord of the Rings films early in his career. He also journeyed where no man has gone before as Bones in Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, Star Trek Beyond and the Star Trek video game. Urban has starred in the Riddick film series, as the titular Judge Dredd in Dredd and as Skurge in Thor: Ragnarok. He portrayed Detective John Kennex in the Almost Human series as well. But you may know him best for his performance as Billy Butcher in The Boys, which just premiered a third season on Amazon.
Maisie Brumble (Zaris-Angel Hator)

The character: Maisie Brumble spends her nights reading the lore of the great hunters who came before, Captain Crow and Jacob Holland. Her dream is to become a hunter of sea beasts like her late parents, and she makes the most of her chance when she stows away on the Inevitable ship.
The actor: Zaris-Angel Hator has a spark off-screen just as much as her character does in The Sea Beast. She brought her singing and dancing skills to the part of Matilda in the musical of the same name on the West End. Her first on-screen role was as Sarah in the Christmas special for the Victoria series, and she later appeared as Young Kate in Black Earth Rising. Recently, she portrayed Sally in the film The Midnight Gang, Sandra Reynolds in Endeavour and Anna in Morbius. Up next, she’s set to appear as Sima in The Power TV series.
Captain Crow (Jared Harris)

The character: Captain Crow’s heart beats with a thirst for revenge and with parental pride to see his young ward, Jacob Holland, become the hunter he always knew he could be. But Crow’s quest for the Red Bluster just might push him past the point of no return.
The actor: Keeping it in the Netflix family, Jared Harris played the late King George VI in the early seasons of The Crown before leading the crew of the Inevitable in The Sea Beast. The British actor is well known for his work in Mad Men, Fringe, The Expanse and Chernobyl. You might also recognize him from Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Riches, The Terror, The Beast Must Die, Carnival Row and Foundation. He recently appeared in Morbius alongside his Sea Beast co-star, Zaris-Angel Hator.
Sarah Sharpe (Marianne Jean-Baptiste)

The character: Sarah Sharpe is the most loyal first mate you’ll ever meet, as far as Maisie is concerned. But that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have a mind of her own.
The actor: Marianne Jean-Baptiste is well known for her portrayal of Hortense in the 1996 film Secrets & Lies, which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Since then, the British actress has starred in a number of series including Without a Trace, Broadchurch, Blindspot, Training Day, Homecoming and Soundtrack. You may also recognize her from her film performances, including in Mr. Jealousy, How to Make the Cruelest Month, Nowhere to Go, A Murder of Crows, Women in Flm, Don’t Explain, City of Ember, Violet & Daisy and, most recently, Boxing Day.
Admiral Hornagold (Dan Stevens)

The character: Admiral Hornagold commands the Royal Navy and is quite the thorn in Captain Crow’s side. But hey, at least he enjoys kissing up to the king and queen.
The actor: Dan Stevens knows his way around royalty, after portraying the cursed prince turned beast in the live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. But you may best recognize Stevens for playing Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey, David Haller in Legion or Alexander Lemtov in Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Stevens is known for his work in the Sense & Sensibility mini-series, The Guest, Summer in February, A Walk Among the Tombstones, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and Colossal. You may have also caught him in The Man Who Invented Christmas, Her Smell, High Maintenance and, most recently, the TV series Gaslit as John Dean.
Gwen Batterbie (Kathy Burke)

The character: Gwen Batterbie is someone you do not want to mess with. Calling upon this sorceress of untold power could potentially cost you… everything.
The actor: Kathy Burke’s comedy chops are well documented, especially thanks to her sketch comedy work in series like French and Saunders and her collaborations with Harry Enfield, including Harry Enfield’s Television Programme and Harry Enfield and Chums. She also made waves in the 1997 Cannes darling Nil by Mouth. She’s appeared in the films Elizabeth, Sid and Nancy, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Martins, Once Upon a Time in the Midlands and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Burke starred in the Gimme Gimme Gimme TV series, in addition to The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling, Common as Muck, Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky, Walking and Talking and School of Roars. She portrayed Magda in the Absolutely Fabulous series and film.
